The Anaheim Police Department maintains a holding jail for both men and women arrested in Anaheim. If they are arrested on a new case for something that just occurred, called an “open” charge or a “street address,” they will usually be held here in Anaheim until their court date at North Justice Center in Fullerton. That is usually the second court date from their arrest. If it is a warrant, and it was issued out of the court in Fullerton, they will stay at this jail before being sent to court. If the warrant was from any other court, the arrestee will be moved to the Orange County Jail. It is worth mentioning that Anaheim’s Jail also does screening through ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to determine the legal status of arrestees and this could prevent someone from being bailed out.

Tip: This jail charges $14.85 for each collect call you receive from an arrestee. You may want to limit the number of calls you accept, and complain to the Anaheim City Council about why they are charging such an outrageous amount. Send them an e-mail about it.

Processing Time: From when someone arrives and starts the booking process, it can take many hours before they will be available to be bailed out. The basic processing is fairly quick, usually an hour or two and the jailers will tell an arrestee “they are all done” and are “ready to go,” even though they aren’t done yet. After this processing is complete, the arrestee’s finger prints are sent to the FBI and the California Department of Justice to verify the person’s identity. This process can take 3 to 5 hours, but it could also take well over 10 hours. Until those fingerprints are returned by both departments, the arrestee cannot be bailed out. If they were arrested in Anaheim in the past, they will be processed much faster because the results are already stored in the computer in Anaheim from there previous arrest.

Once a bail bond is deposited for release, they will usually be out in less than 30 minutes.
